Hello friends, family, and fans of Outrun the Sunlight, We - TopicsExpress

Hello friends, family, and fans of Outrun the Sunlight, We wanted to take a minute to tell you about the album we’ve been writing and recording the past three years. Most albums should take 6-12 months from writing to pre-production to production, but considering we’re a 100% DIY band, it took us much longer. We all attended school and worked full time jobs, all while trying to find the time to finish this album. However, Terrapin is a massive step-up from our last record in terms of production and writing. There’s a load of post-rock, jazz, ambient, metal, and progressive influence throughout the album. We still want the hair to stand up on the back of your necks, and we still wanted to create music that we thought was interesting to play. Terrapin does both. Music is not a money making tool for us. It is a creative outlet, and the best one that we know how to express ourselves through. Now that the album is done, we want as many people to hear it as possible. That’s why you can download the whole thing for a measly $5, even though it’s a full length record. But we want to do more with it. Many people these days want to hold a physical piece of merchandise in their hands, rather than save it on their computers, and we think that’s really damn cool. We want to press Terrapin to vinyl, to CD, and produce limited edition shirts and posters that are centered around the theme of the album. But we can’t do it alone. To break it down simply, we have two options: 1. We spend our own money and our band reserves to put this album into physical production, and risk not selling the materials, and taking on a huge amount of debt that we would owe to our distribution label. OR 2. We estimate how many people would want the record, set a financial goal, and raise the money through Indiegogo to create the physical merchandise for those who really want it, in hopes of exceeding the goal and printing even more albums. So now we’re asking you to pre-order the record through Indiegogo and more importantly, tell people about the album. We are so appreciative of our friends and fans that have done this so far. It’s been a dream of ours to see our music pressed to vinyl and distributed to people from all around the world, but we can’t do it without your help. There’s a lot of cool extras we came up with to aid in your incentive to donate. We recently recorded 3 songs live at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio Studios (Nirvana, Neurosis, Weedeater, Russian Circles) that you will get for free if you donate $10 or more. We also included an illustrated bass drum head, an amazing dinner with the band, original sketches for the album artwork, attendance to a live Audiotree session in January, a great haircut from Pedro, bowling with the band, a tab-book, a professional photo-shoot, and other neat things that only the members of OTS could do for you. And that’s it. The number one thing we’d like for people to do is to spread the word. Social media, word of mouth, a letter, a pigeon carrier, whatever it is: if you are excited and supportive of this release, help us out by sharing it (igg.me/at/terrapin). There will be more goodies and songs to come before the album is out in case you are on the fence about buying it. Thank you all for the support thus far. We are so appreciative and humbled by our fans, and we would not be where we were if it weren’t for the ones who supported our last three releases. - Outrun the Sunlight
