Hello from 30,00 feet! Earlier today I sent the following message to the North Shore Synagogue community and am now making it Facebook official. Yay! Dear Friends: I write to you today with both excitement and sadness to let you know that I am leaving North Shore Synagogue at the end of June to pursue an opportunity at the Jewish Education Project, a leading Jewish Agency that works with synagogues and other institutions to enhance Jewish education by providing consultation, resources, and networking services. This new role represents a major step in my own professional and personal growth, as I have an opportunity to help shape the future of Jewish teen Education and youth work. Please know that it was a difficult decision for me to leave direct service and North Shore Synagogue. I am very excited about this new opportunity, and I leave North Shore Synagogue feeling tremendous pride in the accomplishments of youth and teen engagement over the past two years. I am grateful for the partnerships I have cultivated, particularly between and among the members of the North Shore Synagogue Senior Staff and religious school faculty. I would be remiss if I did not single out Rabbi Bravo for her extraordinary vision, boundless energy, and her unwavering support for the youth and families of North Shore Synagogue. I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the North Shore Synagogue lay leadership for supporting and understanding the importance of youth engagement and the ways a vibrant youth community impacts the entire community. I have also been extremely privileged to work with a multitude of young people throughout my time as a religious school teacher and Director of Youth Engagement. The young people I have been blessed to know bring me tremendous joy and fulfillment in my lifes work. There are many things I will miss about working at North Shore Synagogue; I will miss the children and teens most of all. As many of you know, I spent my childhood and adolescence at North Shore Synagogue. It has been a privilege to come back here as a professional and give back to a place that has given so much to me. I will always call North Shore Synagogue home. LShalom, Les Skolnik Director of Youth Engagement
