Hello from Tim, DeAnna’s husband. We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, with family and friends. We are sure thankful to have this time together. We had a great holiday, with all our kids that live in the Golden State coming by to say hello. Laura came from Canoga Park, Raquel from Santa Ana, Karen and Shannon got the long distance award—from San Francisco. Our friends, Morgan Rich and Deb McGauvran and their kids marched into our home on Christmas Day, in true Girl Scout fashion, carrying a warm, freshly baked turkey dinner with all the trimmings! That made our house smell like we we cooked it ourselves! I’m happy to report that prior to Christmas, DeAnna dug deep and managed to go with me on a couple of shopping trips, because it is so important to her for all the kids to have something personal to open on Christmas Day. For her to have the strength to get in/out of the car and in/out of the wheelchair and endure me wheeling her through waves of shoppers is a testament to her resolve. Add to that, the fact that she had the presence of mind to pick out very thoughtful gifts is nothing short of a miracle! I was just the driver/elf. During and after Christmas, DeAnna’s swollen abdomen got worse. By Tuesday this week during our weekly nurse visit we decided to return to the hospital to see if she could be “drained” as was done last time it got this big. That was the last time we went to the hospital when her liver was not keeping up. We went to the hospital on Wednesday, but an ultrasound exam found no pocket of fluid large enough to have the procedure. They sent us home with increased dosage of diuretics, a technique which has helped her in the past. She is to keep her feet up, which is uncomfortable, so I have to keep moving them up as she wants to dangle them. We are so thankful to be home, out of the hospital, as you can imagine. Our thanks also go out to all those who have recently contributed to our welfare: Nino Martini and family, Ryan and Cynthia Davis and family, Holly Griffith (again), Bev Garrisi (again), Dini Dias, Sharon Rice (my dear sister-in-law), Nisala, Vasari Weerasuriya, Disali Mendis, W. Kottmeier, Debra Martin, Raymond Just, Kristin Fast, Kim Orcutt, Tanya Bonni, The Gibbs Family, Elizabeth Platt, Jennifer de la Haye, Colleen Boardman and Taylor’s ice scating coach, rose Kathy. My favorite realtor, and former co-worker, Gregg Glick, also gave us a generous donation. We cannot thank all of you enough for your prayers and contributions that help make our burden a little lighter. We wish the very best to everyone, and from our home to yours, have a Very Happy New Year! We are so thankful to be able to spend this time together!!!
