Hello from the hospital! Sorry I havent posted much of an updat! Ive been pretty much out of it the past couple days. The surgery was a little more intense than anticipated. While working on the herniated disc he encountered an enormous amount of scar tissue from previous surgeries and infections. It had wrapped itself around the disc. At some point the dura was nicked. That needed repairing. Then he wanted to get as much scar tissue out as he could to relieve further pain. As a result of the nicked dura I had to remain flat for a day and a half. That was miserable. Have you tried eating flat on you back, or other daily duties? Anyway! After I was allowed to sit up I did slowly throughout the day until I was sitting up. I was able to take a walk around the unit with a walker and PT! That felt so good! I even went to the potty! Well, all this goodness didnt last something changed. Not exactly sure what, but I went from 0-100 in pain in no time. I was getting every pain pill under the sun! They were giving me valium intervenously. I dont think they could have tried more. I finely asked to see my doctor. Im sure people around me were tired of hearing me moaning and cringe all day! It was ugly! And of course its New Years Eve! Well, he told them to give me an injection of steroids and a huge dose of valium. Something worked! I feel asleep! My doc came in early this morning and said he came in a 1 am and I was asleep. He came in again this morning and this afternoon. I may be able to go home tomorrow. Today has been much better than yesterday. I actually feel like a human being!
