Hello guys! JB Casacop here. Bagong add lang ako dito sa group. Maraming salamat kay Sir Ryan Pasibe sa pagsali sa akin dito. :-) I just wanted to share something before the year ended. Heres a breakdown of one of the artworks I during early 2014. This goes from left to right, top then bottom. I begin with rough sketches that take around 30 mins each. My primary objective at this phase is to create readable compositions. Values lang. Walang kulay, walang polish. Pwesto-pwesto lang ng main elements with minimal details- just enough to get an idea across at mabasa ng art director. Then pag nakapili na ang director, tight line sketch. In this case, napili yung pangalawa. Sa puntong ito, dito ko inaayos lahat pati proportions. Next phase is underpainting. Dito ko ineestablish ang mood. Puro broad strokes lang. I work from big to small. Importante para sa akin na mapakita muna ang volume bago magdagdag ng mga details. I represent volume using lights and shadows. After throwing in all the colors I plan to move forward with (kasama na pati kung saan yung light source) I then proceed to refining the painting. A.k.a. rendering. Ito yung fun part at ito rin yung mabusisi. Nandito yung blending ng mga strokes tsaka detailing. At this point, I pay extra attention sa material textures. So kung bato, dapat magaspang. Kung organic matter, dapat makinis, etc. Pagkatapos ng rendering, post processing naman. Theres not much painting done during this phase. Whats involved here is filtering and color adjustments. As you can see in the sample image, I pushed the greens and yellows a bit to make sure it looks uneasy or ominous. Para sa Call of Cthulhu card game ito. The whole thing took around 3 or 4 days if I am not mistaken. Kasama na dun yung discussion with the client. Id love to talk more about this but Im being too wordy already.
