Hello interested DNR MacKenzie Center followers: I am very happy to announce our new staff has been hired at the MacKenzie Center. There are some newcomers and some familiar faces you will recognize. As you know, the Department of Natural Resources is resuming management of MacKenzie Jan. 2, 2014, and our team is looking forward to working with educators, interest groups, volunteers, the Friends of MacKenzie and others. Joshua Bruecken joins us as MacKenzie’s Buildings and Grounds Manager. Josh has a Master’s Degree in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Administration. He recently moved to Wisconsin bringing considerable experience from the Conservation Corps and has held facility and campground manager positions in Illinois and Iowa. Dave Foelker has worked at the MacKenzie Center a couple of years will continue in his role in maintenance and grounds management. His familiarity with the facilities and grounds will be a valuable part of moving forward at MacKenzie. Chrystal Seeley-Schreck and Ruth Ann Lee will lead the education program. Chrystal is currently the DNR’s Invasive Species Specialist where she has done an admirable job educating staff from DNR, Department of Transportation and multiple external organizations and groups. She is also a member of the DNR’s agency wide education leadership team. She has a Master’s Degree in Culture, Ecology and Sustainable Community, and brings a wealth of experience in education and outreach from multiple states. Ruth Ann is currently the Wildlife Federation Director at MacKenzie and also served several years as lead educator. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources Management, with an emphasis in education and interpretation and has done an outstanding job leading the development of the existing education program at MacKenzie. The MacKenzie wildlife team will continue under the proven leadership of Annalynn Hammond. Wildlife Technician Kyle Coker will continue animal care, development, and enhancement of the wildlife area. Both have worked with the live animals at MacKenzie for a couple of years notably enhancing the wildlife area and providing healthy enrichments for the animals. Annalynn’s background is in Biological Aspects of Conservation from the University of Wisconsin and Madison Area Technical College. Kyle brings several years of experience working with live animals in addition to his diploma and experience with small engine repair, which is ever so helpful operating a large natural area property. Roxanne Burgard will continue serving as Office Associate and Group Coordinator. She has worked at the MacKenzie Center several years and brings invaluable experience to the programs and property.
