Hello ladies!! Posting something that I follow on a regular basis. This is about basic skincare. Being a busy working woman and even a busier partying woman in NYC, I want my skincare regime to be quick and very effective. Here are a few steps that you can follow to ensure that your skin stays healthy and glowing 1) Sunscreen/Sunblock - Use a high SPF (I use 80/85) on your skin, not just your face. This will help you protect your skin against the harmful UV rays from the sun. I have to use it irrespective of summer or winter, as I dont have melanin on half my face. Melanin is the main component that protects your skin from being burnt from the rays of the sun. The darker the complexion, the more the melanin, and better your skin is protected from the UV rays, but that doesnt mean one shouldnt apply sunscreen. 2) What you eat is what you wear. Drink lots of water and green tea. Keep your body and skin hydrated and the green tea helps you detox your body. Eat fresh food, not canned or frozen food. Avoid fried and fatty food, this affects the skin a great deal. Have lots of fruits and salads. This will provide natural vitamins and minerals in your body. You can easily incorporate this in your daily food intake. 3) Home - made remedies - There are a few things I do at home that keep my face glowing. First, I use a paste of chickpea powder (besan), sandalwood (for the cooling effect), turmeric (this has a lot of medicinal values), and milk. I make this paste fresh, apply it on my face and keep it for 15-20 minutes before taking a shower. Another thing that I absolutely swear by is a combination of Emu and Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (40/60). Couple of drops on your skin keeps the skin moisturized for a long time. Please please use as much natural products directly on your skin as you can and avoid using fragrant moisturizers. I use Aveeno. 4) Self Image - Ladies, like and love what you see in the mirror. Flaws and all. Its you, its your face, its your body. Embrace it. Yes, do things to make it look better and enhance your own beauty, but dont hate what you see in the mirror. If you have stress in your life, find a way to deal with it. Stress is the biggest component for having skin issues. It was for me. So find a way to deal with stress and find time in your life to do things that make you happy. Never forget the reasons that make you smile ladies... and keep that smile on.. your biggest beauty enhancer. :) - Admin MM
