Hello, this is my husky Cayla. Cayla is only 2 years old and was recently adopted into my family 3 months ago. I do know her full history as she is a dog that was my friend and I watched her grow up. She has changed owners and have gone to 2 other house apart from my friend. As a result of this, I believe she has very serious separation anxiety. As long as she sees the metal gate close, whether I could be behind the gate (w her) or standing from where I am standing in this video, she will start pacing rapidly and non stop, till her nails start to bleed and her paw run raw.. Her anxiety was much worst when she first came and lived w me, and she has noticeably still quieten down although, not as much as I would like it. Just wondering how else can I help her? She is given a raw bone and other chews before I leave the house, she has two crates which acts as dens but I hardly see her resting there. She is given lots of space to run about and play but she doesnt. I have two other dogs, and them being out with her helps sometimes, but sometimes it doesnt and she still paces a lot. Is this a case of behavioural modification or is it better to maybe speak to a veterinarian and see what are my options (meds-wise) or should I continue to stick to my routine and soon she will realised that there is nothing to panic about and she is here to stay for life? I personally am not a fan of meds.
