Hello to all the Parishioners of San Salvador Parish! Peace Be With You! The year 2021 will be a year of great celebration. It is because, on that year, our faith, the Roman Catholic faith in the Philippines, will reach its 500th year of existence. This is according to history. Our history class told us that it was on March 16,1521 that Ferdinand Magellan first landed in Samar Island. That was 500 years ago. By virtue of that event, the entire Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines through CBCP initiates a preparation for that day. The preparation began last 2011 during when we celebrated the Year of Faith in order to recapture, relive and be conscious our faith and examine how much have become in our following the Lord. From 2012-2013, we celebrated the Year for Priests. This is to give gratitude and appreciate those who offer their lives for service and for God. These are our beloved priests. In 2013-2014, we also celebrate the Year for the Laity, and the Laity is us. We are those who try to live as Christians by being emerged into the world, bringing to it the Lord and by being a model to it through our actions. Next year, we will be celebrating the Year for the Poor. Next year will be devoted for our unfortunate brothers and sisters. But, mind you, poverty does not only refer to those who are materially deprived. Spiritual and moral poverty are also prevalent today and we might even be one of these poor. For the celebration next year, this video is composed for it. The song contains emphasis on not turning our eyes and helping everyone who is in need. Some of us do not know the things mentioned above, and so it is our desire that all of us may be informed. And as we come nearer to that year may we meditate and examine ourselves.
