Help a Mom Out: She writes: I am seeking help for my 9 (almost 10) year old son. He has been seen by many doctors, psychiatrist, counselors, and mental health. They all agree something is wrong but they all also give him a different diagnosis. I want to share my story to see if any other parent has a child like mine they may be able to point me in the right direction. My sons name is Kenneth and he has been very special from the time he was born. He was very intelligent even as a toddler. The older he got the more I saw that he retained absolutely everything but the schools struggled with him because he was very hyper, he could not sit still, focus, he blurted out, but when the teacher asked him a question he knew all the answers. He started saying he has to blurt out or move around to stop the voices he hears in his head. There were a few different ones: a mean one, a scared one, and a loud one. Once I started talking to him about them he said he doesn’t really hear them. He stopped sleeping all together. He probably went about 3 weeks with no sleep (MAYBE an hour here or there). He also collects strange things, he LOVES pencils, and loves them by the thousands. He also started pulling his hair out. He now eats his collar of his shirt and bites himself under his arm. When I ask him to stop he does for a few minutes and then starts again. He says he can’t help it. He seems to do better in morning but a completely different kid by noon. His voice changes in the afternoon along with his hand writing. He starts writing his letters backwards and forgets to put spaces between his words. He is very irritable at that time. He had had the following diagnosis: ADHD, Anxiety, Asperger’s, Schizophrenia, and psychopath (from some quack that seen him one time).
