Help a Mom Out: She writes: Wondering if anyone else has experience with this and what dx are involved and what can be done. My 6 1/2 year old has been going through a phase for a few months now where when he gets in trouble, even over something little, he hits himself or bangs his head into the wall, floor, etc. He ends up crying from it and I have seen him do it so I know it is hard enough to hurt him. Currently he is dx with SPD, ADHD and the neurologist dx him with Aspergers, but the psychologist disagrees. Oh, and possible mood disorder-nos. He is still being evaluated. We tell him he should not be hitting himself, etc., that it is not something people do to themselves, there is no reason for him to hurt himself, etc. He also gets sent to his room (he always gets very angry at the same time and starts talking back, etc.). The psychologist says we are doing it right and eventually he should catch on that he is getting nothing out of hurting himself. But it doesnt seem to be working since it has been going on for months. Thanks for any advice!
