Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. The New Living Translation says wear them like a necklace. When you walk in mercy and kindness, you will find favor before God and man. The amplified version puts it this way, ‘Let not mercy and kindness [shutting out all hatred and selfishness] and truth [shutting out all deliberate hypocrisy or falsehood] forsake you; bind them about your neck, write them upon the tablet of your heart So shall you find favor, good understanding, and high esteem in the sight [or judgment] of God and man. He who shows mercy and kindness will definitely reap a harvest of mercy and kindness. Love means shutting out all hatred and selfishness. Love and truth make a potent combination. Truth here means shutting out all deliberate hypocrisy or falsehood. Be plain in your dealings with people and with God.
