Help save our Pool!!!! July 18,2014 It has been brought to our attention there is going to be a discussions about the possible closing of Upper Moreland School districts pool at the Middle School in the upcoming school board meetings. We all must agree that many peoples’ first exposure to swimming began in school. Being confident in the water and being taught the basics prevents kids from drowning. Ask yourself this, how many lives do we not know about that were saved because they were exposed to swimming education at Upper Moreland Middle School or any suburban school for that matter ? Secondly let’s point out this. Centennial, Upper Dublin, Hatboro-Horsham School districts surround us. They all have a swimming program and new schools to boot. Now, if you were in the market for a home and knew that for a fact and knew Upper Moreland didn’t where would you buy your home? What does that thought do to the value of your home if you live in Upper Moreland? DCAA swim team rents that pool but that’s all the district has. Upper Dublin hosts swim clinics where Ryan Lochte has taught technique, holds USAA swim meets as well as invitational events just like William Tennet does so if it’s a money thing or budget cost problem they have only themselves to blame. We all know our taxes aren’t cheep. So get involved, let your voice be heard. Attend a meeting and/or write the school board members for they have the pools destiny in their hands! Lisa Berlin, Asst.
