Help support this worthwhile project that is capturing an important aspect of Pear Harbor. Filmmaker, Michael Lennick writes: I have a favor to ask: As some of you know, Ive been working on a film about the impact and aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor on the civilians (both American and Japanese) and most especially the wives and children of the soldiers and sailors who were thrust into war that day. (The film is based in large part on an essay by the Seattle-based cartoonist Shary Flenniken, whose family lived on Oahu at the time. Sharys father was a Navy diver and sub-commander. Much of the never-before-seen footage in the trailer below comes from his home movies.) Weve shot most of the interviews and other main-unit material, and are now planning our first-ever crowd-sourcing campaign for the small amount still required to complete filming, post-production (including animations etc.) and other pre-distribution requirements. This is all fairly new to us, so if you have a moment I would really appreciate any help and advice you can share about your own experience with earlier crowd-sourcing campaigns: What did you like (and dislike) about them? What factors led to (and/or torpedoed) your potential contribution? What sort of perks do you think are most appealing, and at which contribution levels? And finally, would you be interested in helping us get the word out through your own networks once we launch in a couple of weeks? This is the first show reel produced for the film, and should give you a pretty good sense of where were headed. I look forward to hearing and discussing your thoughts. Thanks so much for taking the time.
