Hembree shines in Red Sox debut by Matthew Connolly (SHJ) Former Broome star Heath Hembree made his Red Sox debut early Sunday morning against the Los Angeles Angels and pitched four impressive innings. Hembree, who primarily served as a closer in the minor leagues after being drafted by the Giants in the 2010 draft, had his longest professional outing as he pitched four shutout frames. He allowed two hits and two walks, both of which were intentional. He also struck out two. Boston ended up losing the game 5-4 in 19 innings after Hembree pitched innings 15-18. He ran into trouble in the 17th, allowing a one-out double to Josh Hamilton. After two intentional walks, Hembree got a shallow popup and a groundout to end the inning. Mike Trout, who is considered to be one of the top players in baseball, flied out to center and struck out against Hembree. After the game Hembree was sent down to AAA for Boston to get a fresh arm in the bullpen after playing a 19-inning game.
