Hemp flag to fly over U.S. Capitol on Independence Day Jared PolisRep. Jared Polis, D-Colo., gave himself a pat on the back via Twitter Tuesday afternoon. “For America’s birthday we are flying a hemp flag over the US Capitol,” he shared, linking to a Washington Post article about the project. Polis had connected hemp enthusiast Michael Bowman with the U.S. Capitol’s flag office, which allows people to buy flags that are then flown over Capitol Hill. After the flag’s D.C. debut, it will make its way to the top of the Colorado state capitol.
