Henry Ford put it in a nutshell. Keynes did the math. It is the core of Demand Side economics. All that means is that consumption is the heart and soul of someone to sell to. You got to have markets for what you produce. Supply Side (ie, production) is crucial, too. But it means nothing if people cannot afford to buy. I certainly would not say ALL RETAILERS, or wholesalers either, do not understand this. They know they need purchasers. They know a healthy middle class helps. But there are glitches to change. No one wants to be the only one to raise wages. Experts say we need to do it all at once. (sorry bout my slow internet this morning)
