Here I am safe and sound and extra thankful to be back in Japan on schedule since I nearly missed my connecting flight to Tokyo in Minneapolis because the flight out of Milwaukee was delayed for almost an hour due to a malfunction in the oxygen tank of the cockpit,. When we finally arrived in Minneapolis with only a few minutes before my international flight was to take off, I had to literally run from the domestic terminal to the international terminal at the opposite end of the airport to catch my flight. Huffing and puffing I ran to the gate just as they were about to close it. I was the last passenger to get on the plane. The attendant told me she was working on rebooking me since they didnt expect me to make it. Missing the flight would have caused a major delay and inconvenience because Delta has only one direct flight per day from Minneapolis to Narita/Tokyo. After closing the gate, the whole plane load of people had to wait a few more minutes for my luggage to catch up and be transferred to our plane. Im so grateful for Gods grace and protection as my luggage and I both arrived on time and in the same place. From Narita Airport I was on three different trains--the Keisei line, the Yamanote line and the Seibu Ikebukuro line to Tokorozawa and then a 20 minute walk from the Kotesashi station to my apartment--about three hours in all since I made good connections. On the way I stopped at a conveniently-located little Chinese restaurant for my first meal back in Japan--chashu ramen, gyoza dumplings and chahan rice. This morning my neighbor was on my doorstep delivering a delicious Japanese breakfast she made for me of soup, rice, fish, vegetables and pickles. She also brought me a basket of flowers. Tadaima, Im home.
