Here are some detailed pictures of the firewall swap process on the Ute! Since the firewall is not listed as a separate component of the G8 we had to drill and cut to remove the part from both the GXP and the Ute. There are easier, quicker ways of converting to left hand drive but in my opinion this is the only right way to maintain a factory fit and finish and guarantee 100% perfect alignment for the pedal and hvac assemblies. This method also allowed for the entire firewall to be primed and sealed properly to avoid corrosion in the future. After the firewall swap was completed the ute was towed to a local paint shop to have the engine bay and jambs painted in white hot. The last two pictures show the fresh paint after being dropped off. Stay tuned to see it starting to take shape as reassembly begins!!
