Here are some facts to consider: 1) No one actually knows the exact percentage of antibiotics that feed additives account for, but more thorough estimations have put it at way less than 70% 2) There has yet to be a valid scientific research study published directly linking the rise in antibiotic resistance in human medicine with animal agriculture 3) Companion animals also receive a significant amount of antibiotics and because they are not intended for slaughter they can be prescribed antibiotics off label that are not regulated for use in animals by FDA, including antibiotics more commonly used in humans; yet, despite being in far closer contact with the human population, no one has ever suggested putting restrictions on antibiotic usage in small animal clinics 4) Your average pig farm has WAY more stringent biosecurity protocols in place than any human hospital in the US 5) The federal government has put virtually no research funding into alternative growth promotants that would serve as viable replacements for antibiotics, and the FDA currently prohibits the use of probotic growth promotants commonly used in the EU in the place of antibiotics 6) By cutting out the increased feed conversion rates that antibiotics provide, not only will farmers take a huge blow to their profit margins/livelihoods, but you also significantly pointlessly increase the environmental impact/carbon footprint of animal agriculture End Rant
