Here are some new photos of Chester, the false killer whale calf who was rescued last month from Chesterman Beach in Tofino. He is still in critical condition and under 24 hour watch, but has shown great improvement since he arrived at the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Centre. He swims on his own without the aid of the flotation sling, and continues to be curious about his surroundings and caregivers. He responds to tactile touch, showing off his underside for belly rubs. The Aquarium’s veterinary team is continuously monitoring Chester’s health, as he is still a long way from being out of the woods.
