Here are some simple and meaningful documentation evidences from Totom House Multicultural ELC in Canberra! Once again lots of constructive questions were discussed in detail, a great PD day overall! a.first sample - shows a simple way of capturing some of the childrens interests which helps educators better understand current interests and also forward plan/scaffolding! b. second sample - what a great way of getting family input through childrens eyes (voices). c. a simple reflective circle to encourage educators participation. d. another reflective circle that aims to capture how children responded to the autumn leaves activity. It is very important that we are aware of how traditional approaches to programming & curriculums can be restrictive and not a true representation of how educators discuss, negotiate, reflect, provoke and take decisions with children in regards to the many different aspects of the program! (Alina Dan, 2012) This is a perfect example where we stretch the traditional Parent Comments section into a more current and meaningful exercise! Another very important aspect that I would like to emphasise is that - we must remember that children are confident and capable learners and while traditional programs have a role in planning and reflecting we also need to be aware of how children will use and manipulate the environment in many different ways to suit their world (imagination, needs and/or aims) disregarding of our programs! As many of you would know. it is a very important to look at Co-programming and think outside the box! Have a great week! xxAlina
