Here are some tips to help protect your items in storage: Store small, expensive items like electronic equipment at the back of the storage unit in unmarked boxes and place large items like furniture in front of them. Fill boxes completely to avoid collapse, and use bubble wrap and Styrofoam chips/peanuts to protect items. Don’t lean stored items against the walls of the storage unit in case there is a leak and water runs down the wall(s). Store all boxes and furniture on pallets in case water gets into the storage unit. Make a complete list of all items stored, including descriptions, model numbers and serial numbers and take photos of them. Never store food in your storage unit as it attracts pests.
