Here are the minutes from our meeting in August. We will publish the September minutes once they are approved at our next meeting in October. August 22, 2013 PTO Meeting Minutes • President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Principal, and 1 parent present • Called to order at 6:00 • Reviewed Treasurer’s Report - balance $5613.61 which does not include a few pending checks • Reviewed plan for Car Show & Festival which included a putting green and popcorn sales • Discussed Open House scheduled for 8/28 o Authorized to pay for refreshments not to exceed $150.00 • Young Author’s Day o Jonathan Rand - author of Michigan Chiller’s is available (Library may donate $350 to help pay for the cost) o PTO/Teachers need to determine a theme as soon as possible o PTO will pay for the Young Author books • Anti-Bullying Assembly may be scheduled for September (PTO authorized to pay up to $800 last Spring) • Child Fund Raiser this year will be Mind-Body Fitness Challenge in October • PTO authorized to pay for Folders/Planners for 3rd – 5th grades (approximately 90 students) • PTO may offer Nellie Reed shirts for sale around Christmas o May re-design logo (current design is a bucket filler) • Crooked Tree donated mulch to the school o Mr. Fattal will send them a thank you note and we will make them a sponsor at the Golf outing • Discussed collaborating with LP, EM and Middle School PTO’s to purchase “Great to be Gold” yard signs o Approximately $3.00 each o May give to students of the week or sell to parents o PTO approved not to exceed $400 if other PTO’s move forward with the purchase of the signs • Discussed possibly combining PTO’s with LP, EM, and Middle School o No decision was made, will review at a later date • Motion to remove the Pop Machine in the staff lounge o PTO would stock the fridge with cans of pop and charge $1.00 each o PTO would collect the money and return the cans • PTO donated a Keurig Vue coffee machine to the staff o Discussed PTO purchasing Keurig coffee pods and charging a fee for the coffee • Ellie McDoodle Diaries is available in March o $550/day; $900 total (Nellie Reed would pay half) • Possible upcoming Fundraiser s o Staff Basketball game between NR, LP, EM and Middle School PTO’s would split the profits o Suggestion to work with local restaurants to have PTO dinner nights A percentage of the sales on a given night would go to the Nellie Reed PTO o Painting with a twist in Lansing Each person would pay their own way with 50% going towards the PTO o Minute to Win-It Games • Discussed upcoming events o Homecoming Floats (October 4th) o Monster Bash – Halloween Party/Zombie o Grandparents Breakfast (September 27th) o Santa’s Workshop o Book Fair
