Here at Unit/Pitt Projects until 5pm, its the last day of the exhibition part of Spaces of Contestation. This project started with a talk last fall (first in a series of five, finishing just a couple of weeks ago), and included four artist/community interactions that resulted in five walking tours (Unlearning Walking Club), ten books carried on performers heads from the VPL in the rain (In Pursuit of Perpetual Motion), a collaboration between Didier Morelli and the Outreach Alternative Program at Britannia Secondary (resulting in several workshops, a procession, and the constantly-evolving wall installation), the Peoples Procession Against the Pipelines (a collaboration between Gabriel Saloman and Burnaby Residents Opposing Kinder Morgan Expansion), a panel discussion, and the publications that are still to be produced. Enormous respect for everyone, especially project curator Mariane Bourcheix-Laporte.
