Here comes my yearly winter driver rant. 1: Tires.... If you waited this long to get winter tires cause it hasnt snowed yet you suck. I have all season tires and they passed inspection Is a poor excuse. Good tires make a huge difference. Get all 4 tires as well, 2 good tires just on the drive wheels make for problems as well. In a front wheel drive bad tires in the back will cause the back end to spin around when braking. Rear wheel will cause you loss of steering if the back tires grip all of a sudden. 2: Driving slow is good, driving 5mph or 10mph is bad. Especially if you are about to go up a hill, you need some speed or you are just going to get stuck. Im not saying punch it to hit 55mph but if you try to take a hill at 10mph you are going to have a bad time. 3: A rolling tire is better than a sliding tire. If you hit the brakes and start sliding let of the brakes and reapply slowly. You can steer if your tires are turning, you can not if they are sliding. 4: If going down a hill and the traffic is creeping take the power off the wheels. By this I mean in an automatic put the car in neutral and on a stick (which many of you dont have) push in the clutch or shift to neutral. You have much more control of the car down a hill to keep it from sliding without fighting the engine to slow the car down. 5: 4WD or AWD does not work on ice. If you have one of these dont drive fast like a moron just cause you have this. One you are in a slide for driving too fast with this your car is going to need repairs. 6: If on the 4 lanes and you are driving a little car and you decide to pass the vehicles with AWD or 4WD that are only doing 40mph you are going to have a bad time. Its actually quite amusing to use that you pass, we just smile and wait for you to slide out. 7: Just cause you know how to drive in the snow doesnt mean the people in front of behind you do, pay attention. Just cause you avoided someone in front of you for not being able to drive doesnt mean the person behind you know how and will hit you. 8: If you just suck at driving in the snow or cant do the above move down south where everything closes if a snowflake is in the sky. Dont forget if you french fry when you should have pizzad you are going to have a bad time. Thank you.
