Here goes... 12 things you may not know about me. If you want to play, let me know and I will give you a number. 1. I was kissed by the Reverend Jessie Jackson at a Bulls Game in Chicago circa 1992. 2. In Junior High, I saw Gorillas in the Mist and wanted to be Dian Fossey when I grew up (minus the assassination part). 3. I have traveled to Mexico, Canada, Scotland, England, France, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Poland, The Czech Republic, Australia, China and Korea. I lived in Seoul, South Korea for 3 months while in college. I enrolled at Ewha Women’s University and took language and culture courses in the mornings. In the afternoons, I commuted by subway and bus across town to teach three boys, ages 3, 5 and 7, how to speak English. I instantly fell in love with Korean food and have converted both Mark and the kids- we eat Korean at least 2-3 a month! I made several friends during that summer, some of whom I am still in contact with through Facebook (Mason Turner)! Thanks to my Dad, Alan McBride, for providing me such an amazing opportunity. 이 화 여자 대학을 참석 했다. 나는 한국 음식을 사랑 한다! My goal is to live in Spain at some point in my life. 4. I have a 3 inch long keloid scar across my chest from a bad cat scratch I got at the age of seven. My college boyfriend used to tell me that it would be the way he would identify me if I was ever beheaded. So sweet. 5. I have had Generalized Anxiety Disorder since my early thirties. One might assume that this would make me super productive at work and around the house. One would be wrong… 6. Mark and eloped and got married in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2001. I got married in a long red dress and we pulled two random witnesses of the street to be a part of the ceremony. 7. I am afraid of the dark. When I was in junior high, we were robbed in the middle of the night and we were all home sleeping. The robber cut our phone lines and we found muddy foot prints trekking half way up our stairs. When I am home alone, every light in the entire house will be on and I prefer to sleep with a night light on. This makes Mark NUTS! 8. I learned to drive at the age of 14 during my Freshman year in high school. Every Friday night while my parents played canasta at their friends house, I borrowed my moms red Mercury Capri convertible and picked up Colleen Kraft, Carol Fong and Susie Yang to go find adventures around town. By sophomore year, we were driving downtown Chicago and cruising Lake Shore Drive, meeting boys and trying to convince them that we were 18. : ) 9. I have had an obsession with Alan Alda since I was 12 and spent my nights in high school falling asleep while watching MASH. I once dated a guy in college because he looked like Hawkeye Pierce. 10. I am left handed and believe that it corresponds to my freakish spatial abilities, my ability to pick up languages easily and to read other peoples emotions very well. 11. I can play the flute and the guitar but would love to play the banjo and the bagpipes. I have a bagpipe chanter make Mark and the kids cringe while practicing Amazing Grace. My long-term goal is to join a bagpipe troupe and play during parades and funerals. 12. Ever since grade school, my dream job has been to be a writer and cast member on Saturday Night Live. While in graduate school in Chicago, I studied, wrote papers, etc. at the Starbucks on the corner of North and Wells and then went to the free improv set at Second City afterwards 3-4 nights a week. I spent lots of time watching Rachel Dratch, Scott Adsit, Horatio Sanz, Jack Mcbrayer, Stephnie Weir, Ed Furman, etc. on stage. I was lucky enough to see Alan Arkin, Robert Klein, Fred Willard, Avery Schreiber, Mina Kolb, Joyce Piven, and Bernie Sahlins talk on stage during the 40th anniversary show panel discussion.
