Here is Canadas new strategy (starting from January 2015) to deal with immigration: cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp . It sounds like all usual channels (skilled worker, skilled trades, experience class or provincial nominee) must pass through this (new) Express entry stage. Try it for free if you are outside Canada and want to immigrate here permanently. Question for my Canadian friends Joydeep, Sumona, Ish, Claudia, Indrakshi): Is it at all useful for temporary Canadian residents wanting to be permanent residents ? If so, then why does it have an unavoidable step of language proficiency test to begin with ? Isnt it obvious that people holding positions within the country already have the language proficiency ? Do I have to take IELTS in order to apply for permanent residency under this new law !!
