Here is Oliver!! He was brought to the vets office this morning to have his wounds treated. He was immediately sedated and clipped and cleaned. It appears he was not burned as suspected, instead he has inflicted all these horrendous wounds to himself. This did not happen over night, he started to scratch and over time he mutilated himself to this extreme degree. This means no intervention by his owner, this means he was sitting in pain, discomfort, and misery for a great deal of time. But now he is clipped, cleaned up, and now on antibiotics to take care of his infected skin, pain medications to take care of the pain he must be feeling, and Ivermectin to kill the demoxed mites. Thank you New England Humane Society for taking this boy in even knowing this treatment will be extensive and expensive.
