Here is a topic I am newly attuned to. It became a sore point in a recent workshop, and there are people who will never speak to each other again because of it. (I was accused, by a white person, of having only white characters in my work because I am afraid to write characters of color.) Only this morning, I became irritated with a craft article because the author, David Corbett, whom I had never heard of and whose work I will not be seeking, made a reference to having learned his grammar and his time-wasting perfectionism from "ruler-wielding nuns."
