Here is a few more evil inventions: 5. The Panjandrum (Britain 1944) The Panjandrum, a giant rocket-powered wheel, was originally designed for attacking enemy beaches. However, it turned nasty one fine day. While testing this mean machine, this whacky wheel suddenly changed direction and chased the scientists instead! 4. The Prison Treadmill (1817) This is practically a giant hamster wheel, but the only difference is that it is turned by humans when they climb the steps. It was used on Victorian prisoners and one merciless inventor made it harder to turn by adding a brake. The effort needed was equal to climbing a mountain every day. Plus no talking was allowed. At least the prisoners were kept fit. 3. The Thumbscrews (17th century) For torturers on the go, this device is a must as it was easy to carry. Now let’s hear the nice part. It was used to crush the victim’s fingernails. Now here comes the not so nice part. The Germans used it to crush the victim’s skull! 2. The Torturing Rack (16th Century) This mean thing was used throughout Europe and for what purpose you may ask. Well, if you like to stretch your legs or hands a bit you may like it. But for those faint hearted, you may want to skip this part. It was actually used to stretch the victim until their bones plopped out of their sockets! Gross! 1. The Great Guillotine (16th century) Just looking at the picture above may already give you the reason why it was used for. As much as 15,000 people in France alone were executed by this way. The French doctor who came up with this idea, Joseph-Ignace Guillotine, thought that that it was a kinder way to execute people. But who knows. Nobody would be alive after trying it!
