Here is a less common squat variation called the Squat and Front Raise. This combination exercise works your shoulders and lower body. So many squat exercises are hard to master because of the balance needed near the bottom of the movement. This variation adds a counter balance so the whole movement and balance are easier to perform. Since you are using lighter weights, this should be done as a higher rep endurance style workout rather than trying to push the weight up for maximum strength. Also, this is a great transition exercise when going from upper body to lower body during a whole body workout.
