Here is a list of all the positions. Just a quick thing. If you have placement next year and will not be Southampton permenantly please think carefully about the role. The committee dont just turn up and do the fun stuff. We have meetings and its a lot of work so please think carefully about your commitment esp for roles such as captains and social secs! Club President. This position calls for someone with great organisational skills, ideas, patience and most of all a massive drive for the club to succeed. I have thoroughly enjoyed the role this year. At times it is stressful but the joy of seeing a plan come into motion or having girls say how much they are enjoying lax this year makes it totally worth it. Mainly you do the following: Run committee meetings and check everyone is on top of everything Set targets for the year and use club feedback to constantly improve Work with the treasurer to write budgets and funding requests. Health and Safety Officer for the club. Vice President. This year the lovely Steph Wright held this position. This role does everything the Pres does to help the club run smoothly and to share out the work load. Again organization, a passion for lacrosse and a wealth of ideas is key. Treasurer This year Beth Skilton held the keys to the club money store. This requires a grasp of money. Again organization is key to keep checking and chasing people up to pay. Every single thing the club does must be signed off and go through the treasurer to check we can afford it, so a sense of reality and budgeting skills are key. Team Captains. Both the seconds and first have two team captains each. This year these were Beth Curtis, Jenny Nunn, Isabella Mcdowall and Eli Birch. Their job was to organise practice, coaches, pre season, minibuses, refs, team sheets and generally everything to do with their teams. This role is difficult as requires a lot of organization, determination and at times a thick skin. However bags of enthusiasm and a sense of fun is key to motivate and get your team behind you. Club Secretary. The wonderful Alex Madsen and Annie Kimber held this position due to this being such a big year with kit. This job involves ordering all the kit for the year and taking minutes of the meetings. Organising all the equipment and chasing team captains to check all kit and equipment is ready for the matches. It involves a large amount of oraganisation to chase suppliers and get the kit to girls. But at the end of the day you get to go wild with stash ideas and deck the club out to look swag. You also work with the IT officer to answer all the club emails and letters and get them to the relevant people. Fresher’s Captain. As fresher’s captain in my second year I love this position. This year Katie Lightowler did the amazing job. This involves coaching the beginners team on a Thursday evening. Due to this being when second team training is scheduled this is traditionally done by a first team girl. This is hugely rewarding and great to make loads of friends on the beginners team. Next year there is scope for this team to become the third team and enter a Saturday league to learn in on a pitch basis to increase movement between beginners and seconds. But this is up to your ideas and the committee. Social Secs. These roles were held by Jen Smith and Sarah Wiggle this year. Their job was to organise socials every Wednesday. This is a huge task but massive fun. It calls for creativity and a sense of fun to get girls out every Wednesday and persuade teams to do joint socials! Tour Sec. This year this is the lovely Grace Lusby. Tour is massive fun and the tour sec works with the mens and mixed tour sec to bring you a fun week away over Easter. IT officer. This was a new post this year held by Claudia Barker. Your job is to answer emails, constantly update the facebook and twitter and take charge of any promotion for fundraisers or matches. There is scope next year to get a website and update this constantly with online store for stash, match reports, pictures. This is a key position to promote the club and get more girls involved as well as promotion to potential sponsors. Sponsorship Rep. This is a new position whose role is to chase sponsors and get the club the sponsorship it deserves.
