Here is a question to think about, based on some observations that I have made both in the activist community, and the music industry, and is not directed at any situation or person in particular... here is the question: Does being an expert in a particular field or industry actually give you a pass to be able to critique, analyze and publicly ridicule every single person who does something that you dont approve of? here is my answer: Sure, it is true that freedom of speech does give you the right to be an asshole, and sure there are some rare instances when it is necessary to identify dangerous people or situations. But personally, I think that people who are successful, sometimes fall into the trap of believing that they are well respected enough to get away with being condescending to everyone in their line of work. Also I have found that more often than not, these experts that are always tossing around their opinions about everyone else, are usually lashing out at things that they are professionally threatened by, not necessarily something that actually deserves to be called out. what do you think?
