Here is a serious question I would like opinions on. I grew up - TopicsExpress

Here is a serious question I would like opinions on. I grew up reading Hardy Boys. It occurs to me that a trait of childrens books of that era was the simplicity. There was a clear black and white and everybody fell into one of those categories. It was unheard of for the Hardy Boys to do anything worse than speeding (if that) and unheard of for a criminal antagonist to ever do anything good like show mercy. Todays childrens books are much more complicated. There is some gray mixed in with the black and white. The heroes are shown as imperfect and the antagonists are bad but not entirely bad. Todays books are clearly much more aligned with how things really are. But are they healthier for children than the sterile, unrealistic books of the Hardy Boys era. What do you think?
