Here is a summary of this important allegorical article, which you should all read if you value moral courage, and the sustainability of our union/empire: -Ahab=Our Government Leaders and our Corporate Leaders. -Moby Dick=Our War on Terror (the idea that limitless Violence and Surveillance will be enough to save us from our "enemies"), and Consumer Culture (the idea that we live on a planet that can sustain limitless profit, exploitation, pollution, and greed.) -Crew=Americans, uninformed and complicit, who falsely trust in The War on Terror and our Limitless Consumer Culture. -Starbuck=Americans who see the folly and immorality in The War on Terror and our Limitless Consumer Culture, and the eventual self-destruction to which it must lead. -Ishmael=Americans who, when they detect they are participants in this folly/immorality, convince themselves that it does not exist. -Pip=A small voice of Reason, Truth, and Love. In the Book, Starbuck and Pip are overpowered by Ahab and the Crew.
