Here is a video of Assemblyman Roberts speaking to constituents - TopicsExpress

Here is a video of Assemblyman Roberts speaking to constituents regarding their concerns about the NYS SAFE Act. As many of you know, the SAFE Act is a piece of legislation that I oppose because it does not achieve its intent of making New Yorkers, Safer, and it often times punishes responsible, law-abiding gun owners. While Assemblyman Roberts support for the SAFE Act is troubling, what most concerns me is how he blatantly contradicts himself about the, Message of Necessity, which he first states that he opposes but then says he voted for it. Evidence of this comes when one of the constituents asks him in the video about why he would still vote for something that he opposes. His response was to contradict himself and say that he didnt oppose the, Message of Necessity. The constituent then sounds as if he was taken aback and confused by what Assemblyman Roberts has just said. In my mind I was able to draw two possibilities for Assemblyman Roberts making such statements. The first one is that he voted for the Message of Necessity, out of a sheer apathy and his unwillingness to dissect the legislation before him. If this was the case, what he did was a disservice to the people of his district that has a very real impact on their lives. The second option is more concerning than the first; he may have tried to say one thing to the constituents here when in fact he had done the opposite. I call upon Assemblyman Roberts to explain what he meant in this video.
