Here is a video of a citrus county animal shelter dog named Simon. He is adorable, or WAS until the shelter director decided to have him killed yesterday. No reason was given and no notice. All the volunteers loved Simon. He was 11 months old, loved the other dogs and all people, including kids. He was taken to the Inverness Christmas Parade last Saturday by his favorite volunteer, just 4 days ago. He was the hit of the parade among volunteers. You can see him barking Merry Christmas as he strolled obediently along. Now hes dead, at the order of the Citrus County Animal Shelter Director, no warning, along with 3 other very adoptable dogs. No one who knew it can make sense of it. Please watch the video and if youre moved, write to the County Commissioners to have this kind of cruelty stopped. The Director, Kevin Mallory, has been in this position for about 4 months and has 18 years experience in Animal Shelter work in Pasco County. Maybe after all those years, a person becomes jaded.
