Here is an example of government trying to prevent the unpreventable. They have drummed up a very phony crisis here. Fire is a critical component of the sagelands of the West. They are programmed to burn much like like the Chaparral of California and Southwest Oregon. Most of the ecosystems of North America are in some way dependent on fire for their life cycles. The explorers Lewis and Clark wrote of fires they encountered while coming west that covered millions of acres in size. The Indian tribes of the Plains and the inland West used fire to promote growth of forage for their horses and to improve hunting. For the government to imply that any species in the Western Sagelands is negatively affected by fire is foolhardy at best. In reality what is happening here is yet another attempt to remove millions upon millions of acres from public use of all kinds. There is no real reason for it. Just a government that is power mad and hopelessly out of control. Their science now is not even science any longer. It is dogma based on ideology.
