Here is an interesting perspective from the editors in Bloomington on the governors HIP 2.0 - The plan would provide greatly expanded insurance coverage, as Medicaid would, but will also add access to more care such as dental and vision, and provide better outcomes — in other words, keep people healthier. Dental can be offered to Hoosiers through Medicaid already - thats a decision for each state to decide. Better outcomes? Evidence of better outcomes? Newspapers are supposed to hold government accountable. Why would they print this without evidence? Of course hospitals are pushing for HIP 2.0 because no insurance means they lose $1 billion in revenues for 2015. The creator of HIP said the 62 thousand enrolled is the maximum number Indiana should place under this plan. There is a long waiting list now...why not expand that ourselves if Indiana wants to do the right thing? The only reason our governor doesnt want to accept the Affordable Care Act expansion is it was authorized by Barack Obama. Period.
