Here is an interesting view on how a build up of minors (in the same category) can result in a pass or a fail.... Mark Cole ADI: I can shed some light on this. I had a chat with an examiner and Colchester and there are no hard and fast rules with minors causing a major. Essentially, it all depends on the fault. For example, not checking mirrors before signally is a lesser crime than not checking a mirror before changing direction/lane etc. So, the former fault would not necessarily result in a serious error even if you failed to check mirrors before signally 6 or 7 times. The latter fault is more of a concern, so FIVE faults would result in a MAJOR error. The THREE fault thing is a myth. In summary, it depends on the type of fault, situation and serious seriousness of the error. It is very subjective and open to interpretation by the examiner.
