Here is another conversation with a voter. This one is about Arts in School: Voter: Paul, what are your thoughts on arts in the schools? Me: I like art. I like art of all kinds. I like the fact that art gets the attention it needs to get. I would never want to lose art in school. Music is Art, Dance is too. There are many things I consider art. Some people think Art is the answer to all the problems of youth. I am not one of them. I don’t believe it can be for every young person. I think a majority probably benefit by being active in some sort of art/hobby. I believe there needs to be some thought put into what to do with those who it doesn’t reach. Find out what they are more interested in and offer a wider range of options. But as a School Board member I would never ever want to cut a budget that had to do with art of any kind. I think Art acts as a diversion from the everyday activities of school. And makes it easier for the kids to focus on studies in other areas Voter: Music is one of the arts. Thoughts on band? Me: Yes it is. I like Band. I played drum a couple years and enjoyed it. My Sister played Clarinet. Most of my friends in school were in the band. What is school without Band. I saw a t shirt the other day that said. Why is the football team on the Band Field? Lol I love to see the marching band in a parade I’m a kid again when they pass. Voter: :)
