Here is another poetic sermon that will thrill you: Marks of Love By Reinhard Bonnke 1. Who really was this God, whose words charred themselves into the toughest rocks? He identifies Himself, to show His rights to give commandments and such talks. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, the house of bondage. That is who He is and Pharaoh was not allowed to keep Israel in slavery’s abyss. Mount Horeb was wobbly under the awesome weight of the Almighty. The God who is a consuming fire, is driven by compassion and burning desire. On the lips of Jesus, the law becomes love, the basic rock for ourselves, You shall love the LORD your God . . . And …your neighbor as yourself. 2. When the presence of God lifted in Sinai, what do we find? Another law of love about bond slaves, who had no rights and status combined. But once their contract was fulfilled they did have the right to go as they willed. However, if a man had married a wife, he couldn’t just take her, causing strife. As slave, he could only keep his wife if he kept serving his master for life. If so chosen he had to bow to a painful process of taking a blow for all to know. At the door of his masters abode he stood - with his earlobe nailed to the wood. The nail extracted left proof in ear and post: I stay for life because I love my wife. 3. The bondservant is a parable of the love affair of God with humankind. Jesus also took the blow, which scars and marks throughout eternity show. The King of the universe humble and brave became our wonderful love-slave. Christ surrendered Himself for us so that He could give Himself to us. From Genesis to Revelation, this love epic moves from eternity to eternity: I have loved you with an everlasting love, God says, to utmost extremity. He gave a new definition to the word love by enduring Gethsemane. Love is dangerous. You don’t believe? Just look to the Cross of Calvary. Amen
