Here is another story on the Obama Administration response. It talks about providing funding to local law enforcements to purchase body cameras which has to matched by local law enforcement by 50%. In addition Obama is calling for training and community outreach programs aimed at building trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Lastly the article discusses an Executive order in the coming weeks that overhaul how the local police departments purchase military equipment. Its a long read but very informative. I wonder how you all feel about this? Do you think the governments response is a step in the right direction? I guess my initial thoughts is that I am glad that racial profiling is finally being taken up as a serious issue. Having been a victim of profiling my self I think its high time something is done. Secondly, though its not everything we want, I am proud of my President, had he not been elected to office I doubt that our concerted collective efforts would have got any response from our Nations leader. At least not in way that tackles the issue head on. Third I think there is lots more work to be done to make sure that there is accountability, and compliance within our own communities of these efforts. There needs to be a watch dog group that continues to push the envelope on these issues and make sure what is enacted works for us as a people. But largely what it speaks to is that collective action works! There is Power in Numbers and our 12% shows when were all standing united! So what are your thoughts? #blacklivesmatter #revolutionstartswithin Dennis Laroy Johnson
