Here is just a thought that I posted on a thread...Im getting really disheartened with the ugliness that I am seeing in regards to our visitors from Central America. have been volunteering at a make-shift shelter we created at our Cathedral. Spend 15 minutes with just one of these guests to our country and your mind and life will be forever changed. These poor souls come in with nothing but the rags they have on. They have traveled from Guatemala, El Salvador, or Honduras for almost a month in sub human conditions. Some have spent up to $5000 to get here with two children, money they paid to their guides. Unless I was facing serious danger or even death, I seriously doubt I would CHOOSE to leave my country and travel through and to a country where I know I will be hated and discriminated against. Sure there are problems with the influx of all these people. But to just throw them back into the lions den? Is that really the best solution?
