Here is my humble observation: the country is going back to a similar divisive and dangerous route where the elite is in their bubble (I belong there so no offense to anyone) and the rest is struggling with their bread and/or freedom and justice. I am not talking about Ikhwan vs. the rest. I am talking about 3eish, horreya, 3adala ektema3ya. So on one hand, we celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas in posh events. We open up creme de la creme outings and organize one-day events for this and that, which all cost an arm and a leg. Again I am a consumer of these. On the other, the rest is struggling to make a living. To rent an apartment for LE 500/month for the lucky ones. And others are behind bars because they said something that the government didnt like. Add to that, the government is ensuring that there is no civil society that can contribute or do anything. Every one is too scared to act now (eg create an NGO). Giving a few blankets in winter is great but wont solve much in the long term. So in a nutshell, yet again a growing worrying gap in the society.
