Here is my opinion on Great cables. When I get new gear, sometime I just want to get the thing running. and hook up what is laying around, reason.. I have to hand solder all connections. with this being said.. I hooked up some focal speakers with a few live wires, for purpose of just hearing the speakers.. with this being said.. amazing thing happened.. Last night I hooked up the same speakers with some super grade mogami cable.. That we used to wire the whole studio with.. The results were night and day in the low end! I believe this to be true, that you want great reference of bass, dont cheap out on the speakers cable. I can attest a lot of bad mixes, start with bass problems, so if your cables are hiding how much bass is reaching the recording.. you will end up adding 3/4 dbs of bass, you dont need.. and mudding up the mix.. Yes the smallest of things,are huge differences, Its amazing, how much you can hear cables in the right room, right speakers.. My advice to anyone. Look at your cables, like you look at a great piece of gear.. AND LEARN TO SOLDER!!! YOU WILL SAVE THOUSANDS!!!
