Here is my sole attempt at a rational, profanity-free appeal to the Support the Troops libertarians: The troops are the enforcer class of the nation-state. They are not somehow separate from, or more honorable than, the government we all complain about. They are actually the cogs that keep it running, along with the police. Without bullies to shoot at people for them, the cowardly politicians who keep making up laws we all dislike would be powerless. Ive tried explaining this to troop-supporters of all political persuasions in myriad ways, and they dont get it. Often, they wont even hear it. To me, this only lends credence to the observation that the army and the citizens who support it (and by extension, the nation-state itself) have a cult mentality thoroughly comparable to the Church of Scientology, the Marxist movement, the LaRoucheian movement, and all other destructive authoritarian sects. You can show them all the ways in which their arguments are completely lacking in both empirical evidence and a priori logic until you pass out, and still, they will not get it. They also may become hysterical, scream at you, and physically attack you. Their minds have subconsciously reconfigured themselves to rigorously reject anything contrary to the dogma of the cult. Have you ever tried explaining what you thought was a perfectly logical thought process to someone who abruptly lost their freaking mind at you? That is what statism does to the human mind. To rationalize it is to make a square round, the sky green, the logical illogical. The way some of you talk about the troops, one might almost think they do something other than kill people for tax money. I beg you to see that you are being manipulated by a globalist cult into giving them all the consent they need out of you to rape the world to death, and that there exists a more humanistic perspective beyond what you have accepted as truth.
