Here is the Hibiscus Tea recipe that is working so well for me. I recently bought loose hibiscus flowers when visiting my mom in Northern Cal but I find it packaged here. I am told that Ralphs has a bin full if it but havent checked into that yet. I use 3-4 cups of dried flowers per gallon of water as pictured. First.....I quickly rinse the petals (about 10 seconds) with COLD water before placing in jug and filling with cold water. Here I show that I sometimes use Organic Mint tea bags in the brew for an added REFRESHING flavor. Next.....I place the jug in the fridge if there is room, for a MINIMUM of 5 hours. If there is no room in fridge it is fine to leave brew out overnight. The longer the brewing time...the darker/richer your tea will be. 8 hours is optimal. Next.....I strain the tea into a dispenser and place the remaining flowers into a bowl of boiling water (using either the kettle or microwave) and steep for about 10 minutes, ensuring that I get the maximum yield from my petals. Next.....I remove the petals from the bowl while the water is still warm and add the honey so it dissolves. Sometimes I use Organic Cane Sugar if I am serving guests that prefer sweetened beverages (1/2 to1cup per gallon). Lastly....I stir honey/sugar until disolved and add to 1.25 gallon dispenser. Then....I ENJOY about 20 oz. at least TWICE a day for the next 2 days!
