Here is the blog I wrote today for Special needs parenting about Praising God in the Storms specialneedsparenting.net/praising-god-storms/ One of the hardest things to deal with in this life is watching those we love suffer. For me personally…death is not the hard part of life…knowing that a loved one has been released from pain and suffering to receive a body that is whole and healthy and free from pain, is something I can rejoice over…even in the midst of my own sorrow…but watching someone I love who is suffering with physical, mental or emotional pain is much harder to deal with…especially when there is no cure or relief in sight and suffering becomes all they know in life. I know many of you reading this have yet to see the “good” that God has promised to bring out of your circumstances…out of your losses…out of your pain or heartache … out of the suffering of your loved ones. Sometimes, we are blessed to see this promise fulfilled and we can offer up praise to see how God took what was meant for harm and used it for good … many things however, we won’t see or understand their purpose, this side of heaven… but make no mistake, anything God allows, He has a purpose for and it is always a plan for our good and His glory and He wastes nothing in our lives. The Bible tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people. Sometimes, our heart’s are so heavy, praising is the last thing we feel like doing. Hebrews 13:15 talks about offering a “sacrifice of praise”… it is when it is hardest to praise, that we must. When we focus on the Lord and not the storms and struggles of life, we find His gift of peace that passes understanding. It is when we find the Holy Spirit wrapping our battered hearts in a blanket of comfort…it is when we find ourselves being held by The One, who is well acquainted with sorrow and grief and suffering. The Lord is never closer to us than when we are in pain. I know many of you find yourself asking “Why?” to many of the things that you, or your loved ones are facing… but that question is rarely answered and it just leaves us feeling frustrated and questioning the Lord. The question we need to ask is, “Who?” Who understands our pain? Who loves and cares for those we love more than we do? Who promises to never leave us or abandon us? Who walks with us in the dark valleys? Who wipes the tears from our eyes? Who turns our mourning to joy? Who bears our burdens? Who gives us hope? Who promises there is coming a day with no more tears, illness, disability, sorrow or dying? Jesus is the answer to all of these questions. He is the one that will redeem all the bad for good.. reveal the purpose for our pain..and fulfill every promise that He made. For anyone that is hurting or struggling today, I’d like to offer this prayer… Our Father, We come to you today and we lift up those we love who are hurting and suffering. Lord, we don’t understand why they must suffer, but we know that you have a reason for allowing everything that touches our lives. Please be their comfort. Please be their strength. May we all feel your presence like never before. Father, please ease their suffering and pain and draw them close to yourself. Please rain down your grace and mercy and be our comfort and our peace. Help us to find the joy in this day…help us to live with an attitude of gratitude and focus on the things we have to be thankful and grateful for. Lord, we are weak, but you are strong in us and you promise your grace is sufficient. Lord, God, please meet each need… spoken and unspoken… according to your will and in your timing. Help us to praise you in the storms and to keep our eyes firmly fixed on you, for you are bigger than anything we will face in this life. Thank you for being with us each step of the way and for never leaving or forsaking us. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen. Blessings to you all, Debbie Kay hopeforthebrokenhearted/why-does-god-allow-suffering/ hopeforthebrokenhearted/grief/
